Forewarning: this is a copy & paste of the same thread I started on GTAF, so if you've already seen that one, you can skip everything under this paragraph. I wanted to share it here, too, because there are a lot of people here who can probably help me figure out if any particular issues in this collection are worth putting on eBay, whereas the majority will be going with me to the Rod Run in April to be sold out of my car (I'm thinking either $1 or $2 per magazine, with discounts for bulk purchases), and any leftovers will either go on craigslist or wait for the September Rod Run. If there are any particular issues you guys would be interested in buying, let me know. Unless they're extremely valuable, I'll probably do $5-$10 plus S&H.
So yesterday my parents got back from visiting our relatives in Indiana, and they brought back a gift for me. My grandfather on my father's side was a huge automotive enthusiast; I'm sure he's where my father got it from, and by extension where I got it from. He unfortunately passed away a few years ago, and left some of the souvenirs of his passion behind - including these magazines. They're all in decent condition (the first one pictured is the worst condition I've seen, although I've only gone through two boxes and I haven't looked through each individual magazine in both of those boxes) and they're all wrapped in plastic, and... there's a ton of them. My grandmother gave them to me to sell, and I really don't even know where to start. I have no idea how much they're worth, which months/years in particular are worth more than others (I assume older = better, but I could assume wrong), I'm feeling kind of overwhelmed.
I know most of these are not going to be collector's items or even particularly special, and for those I'm trying to think of a way to sell them at the Rod Run in April. Probably out of the trunk of my car, with a big sign advertising them, and probably a couple bucks per magazine. It's definitely the kind of audience that would be interested in these. I guess I need to see if these magazines have some kind of forum based around them, because they would most likely be the people to talk to to find out which ones are particularly valuable. Edit: I found their forum, but it seems extremely inactive, so I don't think they'll be of much help unfortunately.
Anyway, with all that out of the way, here are some pictures. Each box has about the same size stack as the first one, as far as I can tell, but like I said I haven't actually opened the other two.
