Hello So my father and brother are slowly restoring a Volvo Amazon my father bought. Had it for a couple of months now and progress has been slow since we also need an income. But it's getting there, and the backend is mostly done (bodywork wise.) It was in pretty good shape, we were lucky with this buy and found a solid shell. Just arches and a few places where water had got into behind rubbers etc and also where the back seats are on either side. New arches have been welded in and all the underside has been redone. Everything has been sealed up and been etch primed etc. The front end had a knock and has been bodged by the previous owner so it needs to be straightened out. Other than that it's just a cleanup. Most mechanical stuff will just be replaced, the engine seems to be ok so that will probably stay original. Interior is getting re-upholstered and as for the paintwork it'll be red with a white roof instead of all red. Most of the chrome will have to be replaced since..well it's chrome. It was last driven we estimate in the late 1980's, since it's last tax was due in 1990. First registered 21 August 1968. Also another quirky thing about this car is that it has an early revision of the 3 point seatbelt system. And the "third" point is a tow hook in the center of the seats and you clip your belt onto that. I don't have too many pictures since I'm rarely up my dads garage but I'll try and take/obtain some more in the future.

Always loved old classic Volvos (& Saabs) and usually one of the highlights at old classic rally events, would love to see this progress if you have the time, any idea what they’re planning to do with it after the rebuild?

We're gunna keep it for a few months, hopefully it'll be done for when the sunshine hits. Then sell it on. Provided we don't fall in love too much with it

Oh you've got to take a few rides in it for sure, maybe even a classic show/meet or something, just checked google and looks like there were a few red 122's with a white roof, should look sweet!
