So I'm curious... I just got into an argument with someone over at GTAForums about the general shittiness of the GTAOnline economy. I'll spare the details, basically I stated pretty matter of factly that I can make around 100k in an hour doing contact missions, and that for me I found this to be one of the quicker methods of income. While I understand that you can get bigger payouts through heists, etc, they don't happen to pay out as often. I feel like depending on the series of heists the earnings more than less equal out when we are talking about playing the game for an extended period of time. In fact I've sometimes found I'll earn more through contact missions.
The gentleman then proceeded to let me know how superior his intellect was to my own and claimed that he regularly earns $500,000.00 to $1,000,000.00 an hour playing GTA Online. Of course he remains very vague about how, but he insists that all of his earnings are on the level. Nothing that would be considered cheating. I don't buy it, but it got me to wondering how we all manage to scrape together funds within the game. Does anyone have any thoughts or tips as to what the best way to rake in the cash would be?
I like to generally play solo or with one other person, so for me contact missions are about it. REALLY wouldn't mind getting some new ones. I'd be interested to hear about any other methods as well though.

I have not seen any way to make that sorta cash in just an hour, if this was true we would know and it would be exploited. He is most likely a lonely teen looking for attention. Seeing as I was given $86mil a few months ago by a modder, Ive not really looked into getting cash quickly, I mainly go after the odd bounty and play missions if/when they pop up

Yeah I'm with Ashy, if there's a legit way to make 1mil an hour I'd very much like to know about it!! My methods are usually heists and occasionally races and missions. Recently getting into the Adversary modes with crew members has been great! Devil, Carry, Azrael, Caloco and others!! Really is great fun! Double RP and $$ has been great there too

okay 500 Million in one hour, hmmm I doubt lol. What I discovered that missions with VIP can actually get you money in short period of time. You can get up to 150K in an hour depending on the crew you have and if you get first place in all VIP missions. Definitly worth the try, I got like 18-24k average per vip mission within like 20-30 mins (so total of 50k-70k is 20-30 mins)

Ed, I go the contact mission route to make cash, I think I make around 100k in an hour. I will do the daily objectives if they are ones that can be done solo. I also try to steal and sell one of the custom sandkings for around 18k when I first log into game (depending on what time it is in game). I will try the time trial for 50k (to bad it is only once a week). I have only done the first heist so no clue what kind of money you make from those.
I have hit a wall on the contact mission front. The only ones I get offered now are are 4 player ones.

Well we all know he was bullshitting so theres that. As for my income, i dont really have one lol. I found myself in a modder lobby and got a few mil from that. Last time i was found out and got all my money removed, so i didnt have any anyway so i let them go wild. Then bought a shark card this month, i usually get one every month and it generally lasts and allows me to attend meets with new cars.
Imo heists were ok when things werent ridiculous in price. Now they are ok IF you have reliable people you know arent gunna leave if you fail once. It takes too long to find and load a heist for the payout it gives.
I dont see a big source of income coming soon because they really really want people to buy shark cards now. Very much a "pay to look good" game right now.

I'm constantly doing solo races, the easiest way of earning money for me anyway. I average between $50-80K/hr, depending on the track length and cash payout. It is tedious but it works, and helps me keep the database fairly accurate. Other than that, I will join a mission or two, never do Deathmatch unless it is with friends. I may also do a heist or two. But mostly just solo races.
I would, however, like the cash payout to be a bit more substantial, as when you are in a mission requiring guns, you still need to refill ammo and sometimes that just eats up all the cash a person has on them. Hoping this may change in the future seeing as they are adding more expensive stuff in the game, not everyone can afford cash cards...

Hoping this may change in the future seeing as they are adding more expensive stuff in the game, not everyone can afford cash cards... Yeah, racing was how the topic got kicked off. There was someone claiming to be making 200k an hour from races... Which I suppose might be possible if that person is winning all the time against 15+ other players. I highly doubt anyone just logs in on a daily basis though and wipes the floor with their competition each and every time. I used to do pretty well on certain tracks racing motorcycles, but I'd constantly need to switch lobbies in order to keep filling up that track with racers that wanted to go against me. After a few rounds of whippin' ass you'll find that people are tired of racing you. lol. I think the payouts for some contact missions were actually nerfed again. Me and Milfrah noticed when we were doing missions last night. Our method is to just start one mission and then keep on getting to the next one by just choosing the next one at the job select screen when the mission is over. So everything we do is random and the payouts are not always the greatest, but we save time not having to drop back to freemode and choose another job, time vs money... it evens out plus it makes the grinding more tolerable. We were noticing last night that some Gerald jobs appear to pay less. Now, his jobs have never paid particularly well, but I know I was getting close to 9k off of Violent Duct. It's down to 5k now. So are several of his other jobs. These payouts would be fine if the spending in the game hadn't gone so far off the rails. For example If I'm making 100k an hour, that means I have to play the game for four hours just so I have enough to get Benny to start working on a Voodoo. 400k doesn't even do anything worth mentioning to the car, it just allows you to start working on it. At that point, you might as well look at it as having four hours into it, for zero net return on time invested. That's one example, but there are plenty of others. I used to buy shark cards as well, but that's not worth the money anymore. $100.00 actual dollars for $8,000,000.00 GTA$? I have to spend twice what I paid for the entire game in order for Rockstar to give me not even all but less than what I need to buy the best Yacht DLC item? How does that even make sense to anyone? If Rockstar was not trying to extort people by putting their DLC behind this horrible economy, then why do they not release the DLC for single player as well as online? - These are my bitchings. Apparently they mean I'm a self entitled whiner who is having a "pity party". I feel like they are pretty legit observations though.

It seems R* had a good working economy model before, but forcing others who can not just buy shark cards, to endless hours of grinding, is being extremely divisive to the player base. I did notice that payouts for races are actually still good, those haven't changed, just the algorithm for track length, which, I found, that if a track mileage is really short, your payout for that track is less than what you would spend on more mileage, for the same time. They need to realize they have to have a balance between shark card buyers, and game grinders, otherwise, they risk losing a major part of the player base entirely. Not only the loss of players, but those who still play are looking for alternative means to get in game cash without having to make it a 12 hour job.
