Get your race rockets ready to go, for a summer of fast fun is just around the corner! Starting on May 16th, the first season of the Bullshifters Pro League will begin with it's first race challenge! This will last for a total of 22 weeks, ending on October 9th! That is 22 challenges that will be available! That makes for a great first race season where anyone can win!
"But Azrael, how is this supposed to go down? What's your plan for this big of a meet?" -Mysterious Person
First off, this isn't any type of meet, it isn't really a meet at all. It's a season of racing around various tracks, several of which have been made by me, and more made by our friends in NoDo with various others strewn about during this whole season. But I will let you, mysterious person, as well with everyone else wondering, about how this whole thing is structured and the rules, as well with some basic recommendations on how to race each track.
First off, you don't have to be a "Pro" to race in the Pro League, at least in the Bullshifters. Anybody is welcome to participate in the full race season. You also have a choice of just sitting on the sidelines, but if you join in, you are in it until the end.
How this will work is participants, including late comers (though I'd discourage this since you'll be coming in with a handicap), will race on a weekly featured track. Each track will have its own thread at which participants will post both race times and best lap times in that respective tracks thread though out the week. This serves several purposes:
EDIT: Each participant will now post Qualifying times. These times are a 3-lap time trial. You must post both the Best Lap Time for each qualifying attempt, and the total time for each attempt (up to 5 chances). This will hopefully allow more people to be able to participate, and to have an amazing race every Sunday!
After each attempt, participants are to record their Track and Best Lap times in the respective track thread each week. Only one post per person though, I don't want to sift through 20 pages of track times and compile a list of each one. One post per thread, any additional times are to be added to your existing post using the "Edit" function of your post.
Why both track and best lap times? Well, one, there is a challenge for best lap for each week, kinda like time attack. Two, each week will feature a long track, so tracking both is effective to prevent cheating and other debauchery. These races aren't just 2 or 3 laps, these are long races. No race is going to be shorter than 5 laps, but will also be no longer than 30 laps. That is an endurance race, each one. So it is recommended people race with each other until the Sunday Showdown.
After that, everything is pretty straightforward. Each week will have a thread dedicated to a certain race, the track will have been chosen on a basis of factors, and may be familiar with many of you here from previous meets. Once a track thread is created and open, the previous week's track is then closed, anybody who is participating in the season will receive 0 points for the week if they did not post a time on that track during the week. Each thread will be closed after the Sunday Showdown has ended and the next thread will be open within an hour or two after the previous week has closed. The reason for this is a par time needs to be recorded, so to help prevent cheating during the challenges.
"Points? Why are points necessary for the season? Wouldn't it be easier to go by the in game points for the playlist?" -Mysterious Person
There will not be any playlists, and several tracks may not even have the 30 player limit. As well, we may have more than 30 people attending the season so we need to make sure everyone has a fair shot. That is why participants will be posting their own times on each respective thread. The fastest track time will receive the maximum amount of points, based on how many people attended the race during the week.
The points system is probably the most complicated part for this whole challenge, as it depends on how many people are willing to attend both for each week, and for the whole season. But, I can show you all how points will be calculated following these guidelines, essentially working from bottom to top.
Bonus points will be awarded to those who raced in the Sunday Showdown. Those points will be added to your weekly score once your time has been placed. This is so those who do not have the advantage to do the challenge during the week, but are able to show up for the more challenging showdown, have a chance to raise in the rankings, as times during the showdown can get a bit slow when racing others. It is still to your advantage to try and do a run or two during the week as well, since the points are weighed heavily on time.
There will be a bonus challenge as well, but it will not affect points. This bonus challenge will be who had the fastest lap time around the track each week.
"What is the point of all this? What do we get out of this?" -Mysterious Person
Well, I wanted to make a racing league that we all can be a part of, not just our crew, but the whole community. Though, this first season will be closed off for just the Bullshifters crew, the next will hopefully see some more people joining in from other crews, as long as they follow the rules of course. But why is this season closed off to just those running with the BULL tag, you may ask? It is to also help compile a list of the crew's best racers, or, if you are a Need For Speed fan, a Blacklist for racing. These individuals that make it to the blacklist, know how to stand up to the challenge and can totally be able to take on foreign competition. We may be a bit biased on our skills here since we are a car oriented crew, but it doesn't hurt to recognize all that help make this crew, this community, great.

Each track will have its own thread at which participants will post both race times and best lap times in that respective tracks thread though out the week. This serves several purposes:
- To get around the 30 player limit of GTA lobbies, which would allow the whole crew to participate.
- To give some the chance to participate if they are not able to participate in the Sunday Showdown.
- And to get around time zone differences, since we are a very international group.
- As well, to make sure that this time does not interfere with any meets that happen on Sunday.
EDIT: Each participant will now post Qualifying times. These times are a 3-lap time trial. But, I can show you all how points will be calculated following these guidelines, essentially working from bottom to top.
- 0 points - given to individuals who are signed up for the season, but missed the weekly race
- 10 points - given to all DNF candidates; essentially participation points
- 11-15 points given to the slowest times. Which means the slowest five will receive this bracket for the week. Slowest of the 5 is 11 points, fastest gets 15.
- 16-26 points given to the next slowest bracket. The difference between places is now two points apart per race
- 27-42 points given to the next bracket.
- This trend will be continuous, and will be evaluated on a weekly basis. Points are cumulative, so it is possible to be in the highest bracket one week and be in the lowest bracket the next.
- Points will be added to each participants cumulative score, so don't be afraid of being in last place a few times, it happens to the best of us.
Bonus points will be awarded to those who raced in the Sunday Showdown. Those points will be added to your weekly score once your time has been placed.
