So I'm sure some of you are aware of the ongoing battle I have had with crew emblems popping up on vehicles where they have no business being. I know Jamie has expressed his frustration with it as well. When this was first occurring and I wasn't quite aware of how it happened it was very frustrating. Buy a 2.2million dollar super car, buy all the upgrades, paint it the way I like it... That's some good progress for the day, I'll close the game and hop back on tomorrow. Upon the morrow I arrive in the world of GTA Online to find a sticker permanently glued to my door. It matters not how many times I try to remove the sticker, or even if I sell the vehicle and get an entirely new one. It returns again, and again. It mocks me. The mocking sticker knows no shame nor compassion. It lives to annoy, and disenfranchise the Bullshifter. Thou might pray to the gods that rocketh upon a star, but they return only with apathy and laughter. Cruel, cruel mocking sticker. DAMN YOU!
I might have gotten a bit carried away there. Anyway, The stickers (or crew emblems as I'll return to calling them) are not tied to the vehicle. In fact, I suspect that none of the attributes that you assume to be saving to your vehicle are actually tied to the vehicle itself. It's all tied to the garage slots. With the emblem for instance, you'll notice that even on vehicles where the glitch has occurred you can go to Los Santos Customs and have the mechanic remove it for the session you are in. However as soon as you launch a job or switch to a new freeroam session the emblem will return. This is because when the game loads your profile in a new session it pulls all of your garage data so that it can apply the correct properties to your vehicle (color, suspension, turbo, etc). Since the emblem is never truly removed by the menu at LSC it will continue to return every time until you can get the game to acknowledge that its no longer an option set to the vehicle. Since the LSC menu does not work to accomplish this, it has to be done another way.
This is where my information starts to become less informed. I'm going to impart what I think maybe correct based on observation. There is no way to get rid of the emblem without getting rid of the vehicle that it is tied to (this much I am certain of). Which sucks, I know. Once you do get rid of the vehicle DO NOT put a replacement in that slot unless its a vehicle you do not intend to give a shit about. Again, nothing is saved to the vehicle. Though it was necessary, you fixed nothing by selling it. The garage slot is your problem. What I started doing was buying Rusty Rebels and filling my empty garage slots. Once they arrived I would log out of the game, and log back in to see where the infected slots were. Like so...
The Rebel only cost 3k. When you sell it you get $1,800.00 back so long as it isn't damaged. The advantage to this is you can sell all of them quickly to clear your garage again. If you do this by pulling vehicles off of the street instead you will have the 48 minute cool down between selling each one. Which is annoying as hell. Especially since you will repeat this process of buying Rebels, logging out/in and then selling infected slots. So, Why do this? Because sometimes, just sometimes, when the stars align and merciful fate smiles upon you the slot will cease to be infected. By some miracle the fact that you keep rotating vehicles in and out will fix the shit.
Another method that may work is to use the dunebuggy. Even slots that are glitched will not apply the emblem to the dunebuggy. I had one sitting in a slot that I knew was infected for around a month or so. I decided to sell the dunebuggy and when I tested the slot with a Rebel later on, the slot was no longer infected.
Leaving the slots blank for an extend period of time may also work. Exactly how long? I really can't say, unfortunately.
What I know for sure: Once you identify these slots, you can manage them. I drove each of my infected vehicles to a "fuckititsbroken" garage. The slot and all of its information will transfer when you do this. So, say you have five fuct vehicles and you have an empty ten car garage. Drive all five over and you know in that garage for certain that half of it is infected. Further more you know which slots for certain because you placed them. When you do this, it will "fix" the slot in the other garage. HOWEVER! Test this. For every slot you vacate fill it again with a Rusty Rebel, and then logout/in and check to make sure its truly fixed. This worked for me, but double checking it would do you well here.
So my current plan is to take the property where I have stored all of my fuct vehicles and use that as the property that I trade in for a Yacht (since I still don't have one). When I do this, those garage slots will be gone forever and my remaining four garages will be "fixed".
This is not efficient, or ideal. But its the best I can do since Rockstar doesn't appear to be lending a hand anytime soon.
