I don't know what's giving them the idea that people like these events but they're back at it again. This time in Versus missions... Don't think I've ever touched these. For those that haven't seen, here it is: socialclub.rockstargames.com/news/article/52583/double-gta-rp-in-all-gta-online-versus-missions-march-4I guess it could be taken as a good thing, maybe R* is taking more time to add more to the DLC's or at least making sure what they do add is good quality and not broken as fuck! *cough* Car Classes *cough* Feel free to share your thoughts

From what I understand, all the Top Fun games are included with the double cash and RP. There is a possibility that the so-called Lowriders 2 DLC that may or may not be coming soon, will include more than just lowriders. Which gives me hope for maybe a bit of hotrodding in the future.
With all the qabeta changes in recent weeks, I'd say they are trying to avoid the nightmare of the disappearing assets on players' cars from January, along with extensive testing of assets, unlike with the 900R. Seems that some stuff is being tested for more than 24hours at a time. Something big is on the horizon, we just don't know yet. But nothing may be announced for another few weeks.

Well, considering that R* usually never gives us money this easily, I'd say that the next DLC is going to be pretty huge. Maybe it's Lowriders II, maybe it's something else. Who knows! But, on Twitter, there's been quite a lot of talk about the next DLC, such as what @tezfunz2 posted earlier today, also @icrazyja posted some time ago that you should save your money in Online and wait for the next DLC. Of course those could be fake, but who knows, we just have to wait and see But, in my opinion, these Versus Missions and Rhino Hunt Adv. Mode double RP/Money events are just useless, you really can't make that much money from them unless you grind them like crazy for the next week. They should just bring back Contact Mission double RP/Money, then I'd be happy because you were able to make some serious money with those

It damn sure isn't us. I was happy with the double money contact missions... but then I was a little saddened at the same time. I was remembering how the double payouts I was getting for missions like Chopper Tail and Rooftop Rumble used to be the standard payout that you could receive any day of the week. All the missions that paid decently were nerfed bad. When it comes to money this is one frustrating game.

I wouldn't mind a week of double payout on heists. That was the most money I made, and I only did one heist for each week I participated in. Should've grinded those to kingdom come when they happened. I hope it happens again soon, we all could make some really good scratch from it, especially if they have it on PacStan where you didn't lose any cash during the double event. That was great

All the missions that paid decently were nerfed bad. When it comes to money this is one frustrating game. Indeed! That's why I'm so surprised by how R* is just suddenly giving us money this easily. I mean back on 360, you could make a couple of millions in just a few hours, now you need some serious grinding if you want to see even a million by just doing Contact Missions. Luckily though heists are there, they can give you a pretty decent amount of money but you still need 3 random people (well in most cases, atleast) and that is usually a pain in the butt considering that most people who play this game are not that uh.. That good at it. And also like Azrael above mentioned, I'd also love to see the Heists double RP/Money week return! But, since R* has included 3 event weeks in a row, I doubt we'll be getting a 4th one, especially if the leaks are true about the possible release/reveal date of the next DLC

I hate to say this, but this is the 4th event week in a row, if you don't count the Valentine's Day Event. If you do then this would be the 5th event week in a row. First was Double RP on VIP mode, second was Valentine's Day Update (double on all Adversary Modes), third was double on all Contact Missions, fourth was double on Rhino Hunt and Till Death Do Us Part adversary Modes and double on Freemode Challenges, and now it is double Versus Mode. The only things left to do is Deathmatches, Races (though that'd be too soon after the previous one with the 900R and Sultan RS), LTS, Survival, Capture, and Heists. Not much else they could do to tie everyone over.
I know we are all wanting something big to happen, but we just got to be patient. R* can't be doing all these double event weeks for nothing. It's unfortunate that they are doing this on activities that I don't participate in. I'd love to spend a week just grinding out heists, even better doing it with my friends here. IT would get me away from data collection for awhile, and, at the same time, keep the temptation of another game at bay too (I'd like to finish my secondary's garages before moving on with more cars at the moment). But at the same time, I realize they can't do these events forever, they are going to run out of events, and they are going to lose a big player base, and before too long, they will have to release an update. One that is big enough to keep some form of focus on the game itself. Especially with a game like the Division on the horizon. I don't play FPS games, but that one may change my attitude toward them if it is as well executed as I think it is.
Just my 2 cents.

See, my problem is this mentality, and I don't mean this as a slight against you Renge. I notice this quite a lot over at GTAF as well. Rockstar, rather than shoring up the shitty parts of the game and finding ways to make the base game more enjoyable to play, they just continue to throw in new half assed game modes and extra vehicles. They are playing a game of distraction with their own community. Every update is basically a carbon copy of the following... Dedicated servers: No. Dedicated support staff: No. Staff on call to moderate game sessions within a dedicated server = no more cheaters: No. Bug fixes: We will list off the ones we attempted to fix as "fixed" but in fact... No. New/Restored contact missions: No. Improved lobbies/session finding: No. Improved trade value for GTA$: No. Three new vehicles: Yes. Some new clothes: Yes. New Gun: Yes. There, everything is better now, right guys!? ...Well no, not really. Polishing a turd only lasts for so long. Eventually all the material winds up on the rag. If they truly want to keep the base players that have been with the franchise since GTA1 was hot in 1997 (me) they are going to have to eventually work on the actual gaming aspects of the game. At this point I've got enough toys. I don't really need more clothes and vehicles. I don't really need another gun that no one is going to use. I'd really just like a world with which I can use what they have already given us that isn't constantly piss me off.

I'd really just like a world with which I can use what they have already given us that isn't constantly piss me off. I agree with you Ed, whole-heartedly. When I meant a big update, I wasn't just talking about just content. I was talking about major fixes, instead of just standard patches (they're just band-aids at that point and will be circumvented when a content update comes out that creates a redundancy to the original problem (building on already built code)). The biggest thing for me is having a dedicated server system, instead this archaic P2P crap. That NEEDS to happen first and foremost. Would I like new content, yes. Would I like the other things to be fixed, yes. But dedicated servers need to happen first. Because it then makes the other fixes a lot easier to materialize. I'm surprised it hasn't happened already, as a dedicated server not only protects players from low-level griefers (script kiddies) but also gives the developer much more control over the game. Which could actually enhance the sandbox feel, when you aren't limited by a 30-player cap. I came in after the missions were nerfed, so I don't know about the original payouts (my college didn't allow online gameplay, so I was stuck with story from launch until Spring Break, where I had a week to play Online). But if they did nerf it as bad as they did, I'd be pissed too. Spending all that time grinding, when I could have been just having fun, then pop in a new game when I got bored. Instead I'm constantly on the look out for fun races to grind. The most fun I get now is hanging out at meets because of this, the rest is just grinding. I may have not been a gamer for long, since I started college, and on PC only for a year or two, but I do at least know what does need to change to 1) keep the playerbase and 2) to adapt the game for long term use. If R* did plan on migrating GTA:O to a dedicated server system at a later date, I'd say the game is then in a beta setup at the moment. But if that is the case, then it has been in beat for over 2 years. Time to bring it out of beta and time to get more serious about the game. This way it is on a dedicated system, and if what they were doing was trying to make a GTA version of an MMO, then that would help make that happen.

Well one thing I could see happening... if they do ever add dedicated servers I can see them adding a monthly subscription fee in order to pay for said servers. Even with the fat stacks of cash they have in their Olympic-sized swimming pools. But right now that money could be budgeted towards the next GTA so perhaps Online is hurting because of that.
If they added decent content monthly, and it was very polished, I can see myself paying that fee with no issues at all. Especially with being able to connect to a server that wouldn't have accidental drop-outs.
However, for now they are just milking this form of online slowly, maybe they are trying to formulate a plan for the future of online. Or most of their team is busy being focused on GTA VI.
I'd love for a map expansion DLC of some form, but I seriously doubt that would ever happen until the next GTA is released. There would have to be a monumentous amount of testing and work to bring in a new area.
I'm thinking Rockstar is trying to get people to play all the gamemodes with the whole double money/double RP shtick. But some of the gamemodes are just terrible and need to be redone/removed entirely. Perhaps they are keeping tally during these weeks and seeing what people play the most/least.

But some of the gamemodes are just terrible and need to be redone/removed entirely. Perhaps they are keeping tally during these weeks and seeing what people play the most/least. Maybe that is how they are refining the whole thing, by seeing which things work and which don't. A bit of a flawed process, but if that is proof that they are actually working toward some fixes, then that could be promising. Still, it is too early to tell with all these modes. I would love a map expansion too. We need more empty space, everything is too crowded. I'd love to have a long stretch of desert to go offroading on, and to create an in-game version of Bonneville. I would also like a large forested area too. Nothing like driving through the forest on a country road in the summer, just beautiful. I don't think they'd have to go on a subscription model for dedicated servers either. More and more companies are going F2P with microtransactions. So, here is a good way for R* to kick their payment curve up a bit, how about upping the job payout if a player is a premium member. This way it rids said player of having to buy sharkcards. But, instead, give truly appropriate payouts (x2 or more) to premium players, along with a higher allowance like the good player bonus after each in-game day. This way the subscription would uphold the servers more, and if the premium members still want to buy a shark card, they can. At the same time the regular member still get the same updates and stuff, but with the same current payout (It'd have to be, otherwise it would be near impossible to advance without paying something down the line.) Kinda like how PSN rewards players that are PSN+ members with free games every month (reminds me I may need to refresh my subscription). Just a thought though, I mean no harm, just the business major in me.

Their "double RP and GTA$" stuff gives me 0 incentive to even bother doing when it takes SO long to do actually get to doing stuff. I have to load into the menu, load into single player (otherwise, my controller doesn't work), then load into a solo session (because fuck knows why I get rejected from every "normal" session now), then wait 20 minutes to either find a job or wait for people to join. My game is just slowly disintegrating and I have to do stupid workarounds to get to the content.
What's the point in spending hours in loading screens, waiting for lobbies, just to get a few hundred thousand at the end of it when they'll just release a bunch of stuff worth millions. I might as well buy a 8 mil shark card and "pay" for a DLC that's supposedly "free."

I'd say, be glad you can't get into a public lobby now. From what I'm hearing in the chatter from GTAF, there is a new mod menu that can allow a modder/hacker to syphon a person's account by blowing up random cars that have an insurance cost of $65K and more. As well as put you in bad sport lobbies, and banning you straight up. Seems someone cracked the punishment features from R* and are now abusing them. Just another thing that could have been prevented with dedicated servers.

Crazy killer mods or not, it's still a pain in the arse that I get timed out trying to join a public lobby after changing characters.

As well as put you in bad sport lobbies, and banning you straight up. Seems someone cracked the punishment features from R* and are now abusing them. Just another thing that could have been prevented with dedicated servers. If that really is true, R* needs to fix it ASAP. But hey, they won't. Maybe the trainers will be out of use for a day or two when the next update drops, but after that, they'll be back. I really do wish that the trainer makers would just stop making them. I seriously don't find it funny when some random duck decides to blow everybody in the server up and then just freeze them so they can't even move And the thing is that I don't have any problems with you if you're using a trainer to fix your car, spawn cars, whatever that you might do for yourself, but since it seems to be that everybody in public sessions just uses a trainer to mess with other people instead of just helping themselves out with free things. But, I assume that the idea behind the trainers is just to mess with other people and their games, instead of helping yourself. From what I heard before the massive ban wave a couple months back though, was that Infamous which was one of the most popular trainers at that time, got rid of the Freeze player, explode player, etc, commands and only allowed you to spawn cars and what not that couldn't really mess with other people. I'm not sure if that is still around because I don't really care about them but it seems to be that the trainer that most people are using at the moment is Jordan's, atleast I've seen multiple spawned vehicles that's license plate says "JORDAN" on it, so I assume that they're using Jordan's because why would anybody put their RL name/SC name on a plate of a vehicle that they'll be spamming across the map? Also, I agree with Jamie with the character switching. You would think that R* would've fixed it by now since it has been in the game since the release of the PC version but nope, they rather fix these useless wall breach glitches that give no benefit to the people who are using them. (You're not able to shoot out from them in most cases, so what's the point of fixing them?)
