I'm not one for First Person Shooter games, but I got to admit, the new Doom looks amazing! I personally can't wait to get my hands on it!
Anyone else hyped? I know I am!

Yeah, I'm buying it. Been playing Doom since DOS. This looks like it's finally going back to the games roots. I've been keeping an eye on this for a while. The Deathmatch looks like something akin to Quake 3 Arena as well. Pretty hyped.

I agree with Ed. the game looks fast paced and packed full of blood, gore and action. Being an old player of DOOM, I would still give it a try. I am not too sure about multiplayer, it seems like the player skins need to be improved. Again, the game play feel much like Unreal Series.

So I've been playing the beta for a few days now, (Since I preordered Wolffenstein), and it is pretty fun!
Only 2 maps available, 2 gamemodes, levelcap of 15 which I got to without even thinking about it, 7 guns and only one demon. Obviously this is only the beta so they don't want to show their hand just yet but I still think they better have some amazing things in store for the full release to get to the $80 USD selling point! I know the campaign is what alot of the old Doom players are wanting, (This is the first I've ever played of Doom). From the trailers and unless they add tonnes to the multiplayer, I'd have to agree with that.
One thing I will say for the multiplayer is that dedicated servers are soooo nice to have!! CoD and GTA have to get their shit together and get dedicated servers, I'd love to play those games like I've been playing this!
All in all, I will probably pre-order this closer to the release date to get my hands on the bonus content and since it seems to be how you gain access to their next games' closed beta.
Also, New cinematic trailer:

$80.00? Must be for the special edition or something. It's on Steam for $60.00. The multiplayer should get quite a bit added to it. It'll have to have a Free For All Death Match. Then there is the SnapMap addition that will allow users to create their own maps for server play. I've already been hearing some pretty wild stuff about co-op tower defense and things like that created through the SnapMap feature. It'll be cool to see what the community can come up with. ::EDIT:: I'm keeping my fingers crossed for co-op campaign play as well. The original Doom had it. It'd be a lot of fun to slaughter daemons with some beer and friends.

Yeah that's weird man. If they don't fix it I'd try tracking down some kind of customer support for that one. Really wish I'd have pre-ordered Wolfenstein now though. I'm playing Quake 3 while I wait for Doom. lol

Jamie_WCE, it could be the price you have to pay based on location. Bethesda isn't that large of a developer, unlike EA and R*, and it's products may be affected by region pricing. Like in Brazil, games and consoles are crazy expensive due to the import-export laws there. I also remember several mentions by Yahtzee about some of the weird laws imposed on games as well. Can't remember exactly, but it could be related to amount of violence or such that can cause a game's price to skyrocket in certain regions, essentially curbing demand for it. But it could be Steam fucked up again... I really don't know, but that was just what I thought when I saw that it was $20 more on your end. Can't wait to get this game though, would love to go demon hunting with ya'll!

Yeah you got it, I just saw a Steam board with a guy complaining about it saying that this is Bethesda's choice to increase it for us. Really sucks cause I wanted that bonus demon armour skin for pre-ordering it, I'll have to try and find somewhere in store that has a similar deal. OR buy the key from somewhere else, Seen an Australia online store with it for $60 AUD!!! Surely it's not that hard! But yes AzraelRPG, This game seems perfect for playing with friends! A 1v1 usually ends with one person very low health and the other.. well.. dead! but the one that survived will surely die the next time they see someone. In a 2v1 however the 2 almost always come off better unless the one is amazing. And demon hunting is best done in a pack for obvious reasons.

I know it sucks Jamie, but Bethesda is just a US developer. They only have one office, unlike Ubisoft, EA, R*, and Activision. It is amazing alone that they put out a game a year, let alone the crazy amount of detail they put into games and how they bought some prolific and game changing IP's. They probably can't afford to go lower in price because then they'd be making a loss. I'm sure they'd love to have the same price across the board, because that means they aren't limiting their playerbase as much, thus more copies are moved. But I guess they have to compensate tariffs and such someway since they can't exactly write those fees off like larger developers/publishers.
Steam is also a US-based company, so it could be the combination of both Steam and Bethesda being screwed by trade laws.
But it would be possible that publisher Zenimax Media is just after more money. Zenimax hasn't been exactly kind to people in recent memory.
I just want to get this game, it looks amazing, and may very well be my first real entry to the FPS genre. Playing with some friends, blasting metal in the background. Maybe even build a few mods, as it should be mod friendly.

As good as the game is there has to be a point where raising the price to cover losses becomes counter productive as you lose sales due to the price being too high.
I will still get it, there's just no way I'm paying $100+ for it through Steam!
